Q. Who is your fashion icon?
A. If Alexander McQueen and Greta Garbo had a baby it would be an amazingly fashionable creature! As far as one specific fashion icon goes, the cornucopia is far too bountiful! How can I chose just one? Sometimes its nice to look beyond icons to the derivations of their inspiration, where their fresh ideas and reinterpretations exist. I think icons are able to interpret all the amazing resources that surround us, as well as borrowing from the past, then translate their ideas into their particular aesthetic. When this is done correctly a designer has successfully reiterated a fresh concept. Therefore, i am strongly drawn to an appreciation for the past (vintage fashion, cultural, as well as art history) with a contemporary (fashion) edge. When these are combined appropriately then my icon has been manifested.
